WHAT IS THIS COURSE ABOUT?

Bridging the Gap runs Certificate II in Horticulture this nationally accredited course is for those wanting to learn the practical skills required to obtain employment in the horticulture insudtry. Our training is undertaken at Ngulla Community Nursery which provides hands on experiences in a nationally accredited nursery.

Once you’ve completed Certificate II you may choose to find employment in domestic, commercial and recreational settings within the horticulture industry or you may wish to complete further study.

Listed below are some of the units covered in the course content followed by some of the job roles relevant to the training:

Recognise Plants, Plant trees and shrubs
Operate machinery and equipment
Occupational Health and Safety
Observe environmental work practices
Work effectively in the industry
Undertake workplace communications
Lay paving, irrigation or drainage pipes
Construct low profile timber or modular retaining walls
Assist with landscape construction
Undertake operational maintenance of machinery
Prune shrubs and small trees
Determine basic properties of soil/growing media

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO GAIN ENTRY INTO THIS COURSE?

This course does not have any prerequisties for entry.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO COMPLETE THIS COURSE?

It is anticipated that students enrolling in this course will take 6 months to complete the required units and assessments.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

Students will need to demonstrate that they are competent in all aspects of each unit of competency within this qualification. At Bridging the Gap we use many methods of skill and knowlegde assessment. We pride ourselve on creating a comfortable and relaxed assessment environment and cater to the needs of each individual student.

WILL I BE ELIGIBLE FOR GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE?

IS IT POSSIBLE FOR MY PRIOR EXPERIENCES AND STUDY TO BE RECOGNISED?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available on request. RPL assesses the current competencies of each individual candidate. Candidates may have achieved skills in their study, work and life experience. See our RPL information page for more details.

WHERE CAN I GO FROM HERE?

On completion of your Certificate II in Horticulture your future options are open to entering the workplace or continuing on to further study. Your furutre study opotions include the revelvant Certificate ll, lll, lV, Diploma or onto University to complete further study.
