Andries shares his own words of welcome:
Dear BTG community,
I’m honoured to be appointed as Chair of Bridging the Gap. I extend my warmest wishes and thanks to outgoing Chair, Les Hayward, who has been a passionate leader and supporter of Bridging the Gap for more than a decade.
As someone who has been involved in Community Services since 1997, I’ve seen firsthand how strong community connections can transform lives.
For 40 years, Bridging the Gap has been a pillar of support in our community, thanks to the dedication of countless individuals. I want to acknowledge our current board members and those who came before them – your vision and commitment have built an incredible legacy.
To our newest board members, welcome to this inspiring journey. This role resonates deeply with me because every day we have the opportunity to create meaningful change. Whether it’s contributing to environmental sustainability, or supporting people impacted by family and domestic violence, disability or unemployment, at BTG we are making a real difference in people’s lives.
Looking ahead, we’re focusing on sustainable growth, building stronger partnerships within our community, and expanding our impact to reach those who need us most. Our doors and hearts remain open to new ideas, collaboration, and community involvement.
I invite you to be part of our story. Whether through volunteering, sharing your ideas, or simply spreading the word about our work, your support matters. Together, we can build on our strong foundation and create an even brighter future for our community.
Warm regards, Andries Pretorius
